Even with a new OC — Jay Gruden is replacing John DeFilippo — D.J. Chark’s role shouldn’t change noticeably this season. In fact, Chark believes Gruden’s West Coast offense scheme is a good fit to attack defenses more and create scoring opportunities. A change was definitely needed because the Jaguars ranked near the bottom of the league last season in scoring at 26th (18.6) and in red-zone scoring percentage for touchdowns at 31st (40.43). Gruden’s offense is designed around play-action passing, taking shots downfield and quick reads by the quarterback.
