How and why LSU once played a bowl game in Cuba — more than 100 years ago

 

As the 1907 LSU football team put the finishing touches on a 6-3 regular season, the administrative gears were already churning to reward the Tigers for their winning pigskin campaign with one heck of a Christmas present — a trip to Cuba to play a team representing the University of Havana on Dec. 25. in the “Bacardi Bowl”.
