NFLSU Weekend Report: Burrow Throws Three, Chase Scores and Queen Makes 13 Tackles

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase nearly led Cincinnati to a win in Pittsburgh on Sunday. Across the field, former LSU linebacker Patrick Queen was helping the Steelers hold on. Their meeting was the biggest NFLSU story of a weekend that also brought a touchdown for Foster Moreau and a career first for Omar Speights.

Burrow and Chase keep Cincinnati in it

Burrow completed 28 of 37 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns. He connected on his first 14 attempts and finished with a 123.9 passer rating, his highest against Pittsburgh.

Chase caught nine passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. He added catches of 17 and 13 yards on Cincinnati’s final drive, giving the Bengals a chance to win. Pittsburgh recovered a fumble after Burrow was sacked with 44 seconds left and held on, 30 to 27.

Queen delivers for Pittsburgh

Queen recorded 13 tackles, including four solo stops, and defended a pass in the Steelers’ victory. Burrow and Chase supplied much of Cincinnati’s offense, but Queen gave LSU fans a performance to watch on the other sideline, too.

Moreau scores as Hunter pressures Indianapolis

Houston tight end Foster Moreau caught a one yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud against the Colts. He finished with two receptions for seven yards.

Danielle Hunter recorded six tackles, half a sack, a pass defended and a forced fumble. Kayshon Boutte added two catches for 21 yards, while Derek Stingley Jr. made one tackle. Indianapolis won the close contest, 19 to 17.

Speights records his first regular season sack

Omar Speights sacked Denver quarterback Bo Nix on Sunday night, recording the first regular season sack of his NFL career. Speights finished his college career at LSU and joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent. Los Angeles lost to Denver, 30 to 26, but the play marked a milestone for the former Tiger.

Jefferson’s afternoon ends early

Justin Jefferson caught two passes for 32 yards before leaving Minnesota’s game at Tampa Bay with an ankle injury. The Vikings ruled him out for the remainder of the game and went on to win, 23 to 16. His status for the next game was not established in the team’s initial injury report.

More Tigers contribute to wins

Malik Nabers caught five passes for 26 yards as the Giants defeated Tennessee, 12 to 7. Grant Delpit made four tackles in Cleveland’s 21 to 18 victory over Carolina.

Harold Perkins Jr. recorded four tackles in Atlanta’s 35 to 14 win at Green Bay. Brian Thomas Jr. caught one pass for eight yards as Jacksonville beat New England, 35 to 6. Colts rookie A.J. Haulcy added three tackles in the win over Houston.

Jayden Daniels did not play in Washington’s victory over Seattle. The Commanders listed him as inactive following the elbow injury he sustained in Week 2.

Burrow’s three touchdown passes and Chase’s scoring catch gave Cincinnati a strong afternoon despite the result. Queen answered with 13 tackles for the winning side. Moreau reached the end zone, Hunter forced a fumble and Speights earned a career first. Across the league, former Tigers gave LSU fans plenty to follow.
