LSU’s NFL alumni gave Tiger fans plenty to follow in Week 4. Malik Nabers delivered a 100 yard receiving game, Joe Burrow nearly brought Cincinnati back with 428 passing yards, and Grant Delpit ended Cleveland’s Thursday night win with an interception.
The roundup covers games completed through Sunday, October 4. Atlanta and New Orleans play tonight, so their LSU alumni are still to come.
Malik Nabers takes over for New York
Nabers caught six passes for 112 yards and a touchdown as the Giants beat Arizona 36 to 24. He led the game in receiving yards and scored his first touchdown of the season.
It was the kind of afternoon that reminds everyone what LSU fans already know: give Nabers room to work, and a routine possession can turn into a big play. The Giants named him among their standout performers from the win.
Joe Burrow keeps Cincinnati in it
Burrow completed 39 of 54 passes for 428 yards and a touchdown against Jacksonville. He drove the Bengals deep into Jaguars territory late, but Cincinnati fell 22 to 17. His two interceptions mattered, including one in the red zone that stopped a promising drive.
Burrow did much of his work after Ja’Marr Chase left the game. Speaking afterward, Burrow acknowledged the missed opportunity: “We had some chances.” The result stung, but his passing total showed how close he came to pulling the Bengals through a difficult afternoon.
Chase caught three passes for 27 yards before leaving in the second quarter. Bengals coach Zac Taylor confirmed after the game that Chase had a concussion.
Brian Thomas Jr. makes his catches count
The former LSU receiver had two catches for 17 yards in Jacksonville’s win over Cincinnati. One was a touchdown that helped put the Jaguars ahead by 10 points before halftime.
The yardage alone does not tell Thomas’s story this week. Jacksonville needed a play near the goal line, and he delivered it. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said afterward, “I have so much faith in that guy.”
Grant Delpit finishes a Browns victory
Delpit recorded six tackles, a pass defensed and an interception in Cleveland’s 27 to 24 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday. His pick of Aaron Rodgers on the Steelers’ final possession secured the result after the Browns had taken a late lead.
Delpit gave a modest account of the play: “It was messy.” The finish was anything but forgettable for LSU fans watching one of their former defensive leaders make the game’s last defensive play.
More Tigers around the league
Kayshon Boutte caught three passes for 36 yards for Houston in its 34 to 30 loss to Dallas. Patrick Queen recorded five tackles for Pittsburgh against Cleveland.
Two of NFLSU’s biggest names did not play Sunday. Jayden Daniels was inactive for Washington’s game against Indianapolis, and Justin Jefferson was inactive for Minnesota’s game against Miami. LSU fans will have another group to watch tonight when the Falcons face the Saints.
