However, it seemed that the Tigers swung and missed on a couple of their top candidates such as Jimbo Fisher and Lincoln Riley, and LSU football fans were left wondering who their next coach might be. Athletic director Scott Woodward finally landed a big-time coach by hiring Brian Kely away from Notre Dame.
Kelly has been one of the most successful head coaches of the past decade while at Notre Dame. He led the Fighting Irish to the national championship game in 2012 and playoff appearances in 2018 and 2020. While his dancing in recruiting videos and southern accents have gotten a fair share of attention in his short time at LSU, Kelly has put together a great staff.
