The NFL has unveiled a protective face shield that NFL medical and safety experts are advocating that players wear, and the initial response has not been overwhelmingly positive.The league and the players association continue in negotiations regarding safety protocols, so the shield is not mandatory. Players and teams are expected to test the shields in the next few weeks.
