LSU added its fifth commitment for the 2021 class on Wednesday when three-star safety Dakota Mitchell gave Ed Orgeron his verbal pledge.

The pickup pushed the Tigers up 10 spots from No. 27 to No. 17 in the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Orgeron’s first full class as headman in Baton Rouge finished No. 7 in the 247Sports Composite Team rankings, but the following group of signees in 2018 dipped to No. 15. Since then, the Tigers landed at No. 5 and No. 4 in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
