LSU was left with a considerable void to fill when former defensive coordinator Dave Aranda departed from the program after its national championship victory for a head-coaching position with the Baylor Bears.

The Tigers replaced him with a familiar face in Bo Pelini, who served as the head coach of the Youngstown State Penguins before agreeing to a second stint at LSU.
