Phillips recorded over 200 tackles in his two seasons at East Nashville Magnet High School, and he was ultimately the No. 1 inside linebacker in the 2017 recruiting class. The reason his high school stats get brought up is because his production was inconsistent at LSU. He started for two seasons and struggled in coverage. He was a solid tackler, however.
