The first time I spoke with Ed Orgeron, he was at a bar. A very loud bar. The background noise made it hard to hear him.

And his Cajun drawl, like electric gravel, took some getting used to. But I do remember how happy he was to speak to a perfect stranger.

And how after only a few minutes talking about his life as an unemployed football coach, he offered to cook me gumbo.
