LSU recently extended an offer to class of 2022 QB/DB /Athlete Terian Williams II. We got a chance to do a Q&A with Terian to learn more about him.
So Terian, LSU is like a family, and we like to know more about our players. Tell LSU fans a little about yourself. I am currently a sophomore at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia, which is located in the suburbs of Atlanta. I play quarterback, defensive back, punt return, and kick returner for my high school’s football team. I am a member my high school’s Beta Club and Future Business Leaders of America. I work hard in school and have a 3.8 GPA, and scored 1300 on the SAT and 24 on the ACT. In addition to football, I also run the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4×100 relay, and 4×400 relay on the track team.
What is a typical day like for you? I wake up at 5:30 am; eat breakfast and then workout before going to school from 7:15 am to 2:10 pm. We have position meetings and film study until 3 when practice begins. I go home after practice ends at 5:30, eat dinner, and finish my homework. I do push-ups and sit-ups before lights out at 9 pm.
LSU is currently 11-0 and ranked #1 in the nation. What is it about LSU that makes you want to throw your hat in the ring? LSU football is known for its great fan base and the great game day atmosphere, especially the night games in Death Valley. LSU has some of the best athletes in college football and the NFL, especially skill positions. I cannot imagine that any athlete who considers themselves as the best would not want to be a part of a program like LSU. It is well known as a program that can maximize one’s potential both on and off the field.
LSU fans love boiled crawfish and gumbo. There is even a story that Coach Orgeron served “Heisman” Jeaux boiled crawfish during his first visit to LSU. What are your thoughts on those two Cajun staples? I have never had crawfish, but I am willing to try some when I visit LSU. I have had gumbo though, and it is good!
How ‘bout dat Coach Eaux? I have not had the opportunity to speak to Coach Orgeron yet. I am looking forward to meeting him because I can tell he is passionate about his team, and I love the way he ends all of his interviews with “Geaux Tigers!” LSU’s DB coach, Coach Raymond, was the one who extended me an offer to play at LSU. It meant a lot to me for him to take time out of his busy schedule to talk to me during his preparation week for the Alabama. He said he liked my versatility in terms of playing quarterback and defensive back, and he noticed I also played corner and safety, which is a plus. He liked the fact that I also ran track, and was curious about what events I participated in.
What got you into football? It is a funny story actually. When I was five years old, my dad told my mom we were going to the park to watch football practice, but he actually signed me up for tackle football. I came home with my uniform on, and my mom almost passed out. She was worried about injuries since football is such a physical game. She was hoping that I would only play soccer. The rest as they say is history.
Who do you model your game after? Offensively, I model my game after Russell Wilson. He is a very smart player who can make plays with his legs when needed. He keeps his eyes down field when under pressure, and is known for being a gym rat. Defensively, I like to model my game after Deion Sanders. He was a playmaker on defense, and as a punt returner. Deion has a flare for the game and could take it to the house at any given time.
What do you do in your free time? I enjoy spending time with family. My parents always take us on a few trips every year. I have one older and one younger sister. When we are on vacation, we use that time to catch up on things. I enjoy movies, putt-putt golf and hanging out with friends when time permits.
What have you learned from football? Football can teach so many life lessons. For me, it has taught me to never give up, and always fight through adversity. If I am down, I know that I can still come back from anything. It has taught me to be both mentally and physically tough. I believe that the lessons I have learned playing football will translate into the business world when the time comes for me to hang up my cleats.
What is something people do not know about you? Most people do not know that my first love is soccer. I attribute my footwork to soccer, because in soccer you have to move quickly in tight spaces. When you watch film of me playing football, you will notice that my feet are always moving. Most people do not know that I won the region championship for wrestling in 8th grade. I still enjoy wrestling, but unfortunately, it overlaps with football. After football season is over, I like to take a month off to rest my body.
What do you want LSU fans to know about you? I want LSU fans to know that I love your energy and passion for the LSU Tigers football team. I am looking forward to visiting Death Valley soon so I can personally experience a night game, where opponent’s dreams come to die. Geaux Tigers!
