It was a dark and stormy night.
I know this sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. There were heavy rains earlier in the day, which stopped by game time, but the humidity hung in the air like an overcoat over the stadium.
The soggy field dictated play, and Johnny Vaught would elect on occasion to punt on first down due to the weather.
