Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason has never seriously evaluated the skills of second-graders, but he may have gotten close in seeing Joe Burrow toss the football back in 2005.

Burrow, now LSU’s quarterback, used to hang around the practice field when Mason and Burrow’s dad, Jim, coached together at Ohio University.

The 7-year-old left quite an impression on Mason, who left two years later to join the Minnesota Vikings staff.
