The Demons had never scored a touchdown against LSU in the 11 previous games between the two programs, but scored one in the first quarter to take a 7-3 lead and another in the second quarter to make it a 17-14 game.

After that, LSU buckled down and put the game away with 48 unanswered points to make the final margin about what one expected.
