The season started poorly with an opening weekend loss to Wisconsin, but LSU found new life in back-up QB Danny Etling, who was inserted the following week after Brandon Harris played ineffectively against Jacksonville State.

Etling took over the starting gig as LSU headed into its first conference game at home vs. Mississippi State.
