2019 Baton Rouge (La.) University High quarterback John Gordon McKernan is staying home to play for LSU, he told 247Sports.

The 6-1.5, 195-pound quarterback is walking on to the Tigers football team as a preferred walk-on and will be on campus this summer working out with the program.

“It’s one of those things where you grow up as a die hard Tiger fan,” McKernan told 247Sports. “Growing up as a kid I always dreamed of running out on the field in Tiger Stadium, but I never thought it would turn into a reality. So I am thrilled to start my journey and try to do whatever I can to contribute to the team. Keep my head down and work my butt off.”
