The new NFL year kicks off March 13 at 3:00 p.m. Central Time with the opening of free agency, and the Houston Texans are running out of time to get a long-term deal locked up with safety Tyrann Mathieu.
Mathieu signed a one-year deal worth $7 million in the 2018 offseason and lived up to his portion of the prove-it deal with 89 combined tackles, 3.0 sacks, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and a fumble recovery in all 16 starts.
