LSU’s defense was up to task Saturday night in Death Valley, accumulating four interceptions against Mississippi State veteran quarterback Nick Fitzgerald during a hard-fought 19-3 victory.
The Bulldogs managed just 15 first downs and 260 total yards against a hard-hitting defense that began its dominant effort at the line of scrimmage. Safety Grant Delpit contributed two of the takeaways.
“He made a difference in the ball game when needed him and it looks like it comes easy to him,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. “He’s a great football player.”
