White just so happens to be Phillips’ roommate on the team and according to LSU’s Preseason All-American, the success the young player is having on the field is no accident — it’s a result of all the hard work he’s put in during the offseason.
During his post-game press availability, White was asked about his initial reaction to the play.
“Shoot, I wanted to cry,” White joked. “That’s little bro. We roommates. I’ve been looking after him, teaching him everything I know and to see him have a big night was very special — because he been waiting. He’s been working so hard. He decided all summer to get up and come workout with me at 7 a.m. and get his body right, doing extra film with me and it’s paying off. Once he got comfortable, he was able to make a lot of plays.”
