Duke Riley drew criticism for his play in the Atlanta Falcons’ preseason opener two weeks ago against the New York Jets, but the starting linebacker made a better impression last week when playing in place of starter Deion Jones.
Jones, the Falcons’ middle linebacker, was unable to play in the second exhibition against the Chiefs after suffering what has been called a minor strain, allowing for Atlanta to slide Riley over from the weak side to the middle.
His coach was impressed by what he saw.
