Ex LSU Tiger Russell Shepard’s bet on himself led to chance with Giants

Russell Shepard trusted he would land on his feet after refusing to take a pay cut from the Carolina Panthers.

As a result, the Panthers released Shepard on May 14, one year after he signed a three-year, $10 million deal in Carolina.

Eight days later, Shepard’s gamble paid off, when he signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Giants. With incentives, Shepard could make up to $2 million in 2018.
