In the two years Philadelphia Eagles Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Joe Douglas has controlled the team’s draft board, the Eagles have always sent signs of players they were interested in drafting in the first round. This goes beyond pre-draft visits and the normal procedure. The Eagles typically remain in constant communication with that player up until the draft, especially if they feel they have a legitimate shot at drafting him. The Eagles are doing this procedure with Derrius Guice in 2018 and conducted the same process with Derek Barnett in the weeks leading up to the 2017 draft. Of course, the Eagles selected Barnett with the No. 14 overall pick last April.
